The Fire

The Fire

It’s been too long since my heart

Felt this fire,

But somehow it is familiar

A raging flame that flares inside

A rush of something unknown to many

I feel the fire,

Though the water is cold as a mans heart

It’s burning now,

My insides on fire, can hardly breathe

A noise to my right

Forces me to step up, I do

Another noise,

And then I am flying thru air,

Smack into man’s heart,

A shock ‘cause I thought I knew

But the fire surpasses the icy hurt

And I still hold my flame,

Pushes me to the end, to safety,

Away from the coldness of man’s heart
