    Poem Commentary

    going a bit darker than usual in light of my life's new addition and current fight.

    elephant

     ::






    the elephant flying around the room is blind
    knocking over things that i can't afford
    taking steps, moving forward, moving backwards
    trudging with the gravity of grudges
    and the fortitude of fuck this shit
    the elephant flying around the room is blind
    and works the night shift
    giving rise and a lift to the things i can't afford
    like hatred, malaise and nausea
    mocking me, it applauds my fears
    and remembers my really bad years
         pulling up shit from deep within my soul
    that i haven't readily dismissed
    but am a bit remiss to discuss just now

    because i am so emotionally busy

    "the elephant flying around the room is blind and works the night shift"........my favorite line in this poem. Dark and voluminous.

    I hit the liked button for this write and I almost feel guilty in doing so....its almost like saying I enjoy your torment.....SMH....my own demons I imagine...but this was such an emotionally packed write that shared the rawness of your pain and suffering....the metaphor of the "elephant in the room" spoke volumes....I weep for this write as much as I celebrate your ability to share such heartfelt moments in life....you attacked the feeling, where most of us just don't acknowledge the proverbial elephant in the room....Your bravery in sharing is commended and appreciated....NEVER stop writing my friend....Pen to Paper is the best medicine prescribed to those considered....THE WILD ONE.....greatly in part because of the torments we keep in check.....Awesome and bravely done my friend....*side note*....You are not alone and have a friend in me if and whenever needed....Cher

    for some the pain is too much to deal with, but also a constant reminder that we are alive and we survived. we all deal with pain, sorrow, and loss in our own way, but remember eventually to heal we must let go! loved this peace u truley write from the heart. -Bree

    Very good poem.I love the rawness of your write.It makes me think about then and now and how hard life is to sometimes talk about.My writes tend to be dark as well.One must feel pain to know the feeling of pleasure.

    i write in the dark....i am more familiar with it. thank you for your time ! everything i write is raw. i was a big fan of Dylan Thomas and how many of his works were raw in feeling. as a young-in, that just appealed to me, the frank, honest and in your face approach to writing. i honed it as i got older and the results are what you read here today. i am NOT a great or even good poet but, i love to write. i do. peace.
