Live the Illusion
You don’t wanna be burdened with the truth,
Your kind of lovin’ requires too much proof,
Maybe your problem’s too much vodka and vermouth.
From the start there was something you needed to find,
Thinking that therapy was going to clear your mind,
Still sitting alone behind an invisible line,
You can’t seriously be that blind,
Denial like an anchor is keeping you still,
A cup full of hatred is hard to refill,
So go on living the illusion that all is well,
While your choices send you straight to hell.
You can’t believe that anyone can change,
It’s your flexibility that has no range,
Cutting everyone down, holding the world to blame,
Is the fact that your alone really so strange.
Where you live there’s no room for reality,
Telling your self that everyone’s like me,
But your pride won’t let you see,
That delusion will never come to be.
Trying to understand is work you won’t do,
It’s easier to believe that you just know what’s true,
Living in the dark with the ghosts of your past,
Never realizing that kind of life won’t last.
Career minded, workaholic it’s all a shield,
All an excuse to stay off of the playing field,
Your hearts’ gone out like a dying flame,
In the end you’ll be the only one to blame.
