Your Choice
There are worse things than moving on,The chains of the past we choose to don.
Do not rot in reeking sewers of the past,
revel in the promise of that which lasts.
Do not walk the lanes of what may have been,
there is more to life then what we have seen.
There are worse things than being in pain, we can seek the means to heal and gain?We must not nominate suffering our guide,
persevere dear heart; we must abide.
There are worse things than being alone,
wherein our darkness no light has shone.
In our elected solitude we yearn for ease,
Only we can alleviate this disease.
Some things are worse than what we’ve lost,
like the irrational memoirs of whom we’ve crossed.
Choose no self pity; just keep trying,
or we opt to spend all our nights crying.
There are worse things than facing the truth,
facts frequent pain like the tongue to a sore tooth.
Throw away the carcass of self-deception,
or forever be bound in a nutshell of oppression.
There are worse things than facing the unknown,
embrace what is new; the peculiar exists to teach,
what we’ve known is a leaf on the wind blown.
your future is continually within your reach.
There are worse things than pursuing your dreams,
Until the end of time they validate life’s exploration,
kept to ourselves our dreams leave the soul burning.
playing it safe diminishes personal innovation.
There are worse things than admitting we don’t know,
who are you that you don’t think you have anything to learn,
don’t consider yourself better than the rest of us.
There are worse things than being an imperfect human being,
It is okay to fuck up; it’s human nature,
our ongoing existence has to have meaning.
because there things worse than dying.
We could squander time on regret and hatred,
or apply your brush to the canvas of a plan,
creating a world you can live in.
It’s your choice, it always has been.
