The Pity of The Meek

    The Pity of The Meek

They put us down; they say we’re weak,

words used to wound, savage verbal beaks,

our spirits shattered, is what they seek,

    despair starts an inexorable leak.

Personal gloom bring visions of a future bleak,

inner blackness buffed smooth and sleek,

feeling useless; warship trying to sail a creek,

in their fear crushing everything unique.

Sweetness will overpower their hateful reek,

    bookwork, brainiac, nerd geek,

    lame-o, homo, psycho, freak,

with every vile name strength rises to a peak.

    Power and prestige becoming antique,

oppression dies with a moan, not a shriek,

    across the world we streak,

pain replaced by the pity of the meek.

    Bryan David Lang

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
