Poem Commentary

First write in about 8 years, let me know what you think.

MARSHMALLOW SNOWFLAKES

As I look into the night, white falling gently from the sky,
I am taken back as a young child, what a natural high.
No hustle and bustle, no rat race to be won,
Simpler tmes, a father actually played with his son.

Snowfall was magical, what a mysterious event,
Children as they were, Heaven sent.
Wondrous is this happening, lost for a moment in my youth,
The phone then does ring, back to todays truth.

Oh how I yearn for, glorious days of yore,
As my child tugs on my sleeve, let's play, go out the door.
Again my youth does surface, my little partner my hand he takes,
Daddy let's go catch, some of those marshmallow snowflakes!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
