    biography of a poet

    The Life of W.S. Merwin

    born in September
his father a good going church member
writing hymns since he was five
when he went to collage he started to thrive
    he went to Princeton University
and learned languages of unique diversity
which lead him to be a poem and play-write translator
not only that but he himself was a poem creator
His newer book The Shadow of Sirius is one to behold
    a capturing book very bold
but compared to an earlier book
one that grabs you like a hook
this book is called The Rain in the Trees
his words run through you like a midsummer's breeze
poems of life so precious, so dear
and they express but little fear
he's won awards and his latest
the Pulitzer prize in April 2009 his greatest
for he has now won it twice
    now maybe thrice
