A New Start
I see a glimpse of anger in your eyes
and I wonder how deep down it lies
you tell me it goes down to your soul,
I wonder, but I just don't know
"I'm a very angry person, dear."
I wonder how it all got there
I touch you in a certain place
a painful memory changes your face
people have done things they never should do
such hurtful things they've put you through
I touch you in a certain way
words come back, things they used to say
I wonder if we are going to last
doubts call out, echoing my past
I long to heal you, make you whole
how deep down do your bruises go?
Can two bruised bodies, two wounded hearts
work together to make a new start?
and I wonder how deep down it lies
you tell me it goes down to your soul,
I wonder, but I just don't know
"I'm a very angry person, dear."
I wonder how it all got there
I touch you in a certain place
a painful memory changes your face
people have done things they never should do
such hurtful things they've put you through
I touch you in a certain way
words come back, things they used to say
I wonder if we are going to last
doubts call out, echoing my past
I long to heal you, make you whole
how deep down do your bruises go?
Can two bruised bodies, two wounded hearts
work together to make a new start?
