A New Day
The sun rises
and it's funny how it seems
to laugh at me for yesterday's mistakes
Yet, somehow
I can not seem to take offense
Maybe it's because it
seems so sincere that
I feel, I too, should laugh
Maybe it's because it's
warm breath entices me
or its' bright light reveals
the true me that knows that
I really shouldn't take myself
all that seriously in the scheme of things
So, a smile peeks out
like the sun
not hiding behind any clouds or dispair
A new day has begun
with a smiling new sun
Reminding me
that some other light
has already reached out
to light for me the paths
that I should choose
and it's funny how it seems
to laugh at me for yesterday's mistakes
Yet, somehow
I can not seem to take offense
Maybe it's because it
seems so sincere that
I feel, I too, should laugh
Maybe it's because it's
warm breath entices me
or its' bright light reveals
the true me that knows that
I really shouldn't take myself
all that seriously in the scheme of things
So, a smile peeks out
like the sun
not hiding behind any clouds or dispair
A new day has begun
with a smiling new sun
Reminding me
that some other light
has already reached out
to light for me the paths
that I should choose
