Forgotten Faces
In the closet of my memory
locked far, far out of reach
lies a face I've long forgotten
faded footsteps on the beach
In his smile, was there deception?
Was his innocents a charm?
a face so like a friend
that his presence meant no harm
Like a picture on my dresser
that sunlight has now faded
a dream forgotten by morning
as thoughts have all been traded
replaced by ones more pleasant
yet still not quite erased
it lingers in the cracks somewhere
this image of his face
My hearts still bleeds to see him
yet fears at the same time
His memory once so sweet
now leaves a bitter taist behind
What part of him was friendship
the knife now in my back
the face that halfway haunts me
or the memories I now lack
locked far, far out of reach
lies a face I've long forgotten
faded footsteps on the beach
In his smile, was there deception?
Was his innocents a charm?
a face so like a friend
that his presence meant no harm
Like a picture on my dresser
that sunlight has now faded
a dream forgotten by morning
as thoughts have all been traded
replaced by ones more pleasant
yet still not quite erased
it lingers in the cracks somewhere
this image of his face
My hearts still bleeds to see him
yet fears at the same time
His memory once so sweet
now leaves a bitter taist behind
What part of him was friendship
the knife now in my back
the face that halfway haunts me
or the memories I now lack
