A Tribute To Our Victory

Poem Commentary

Dedicated to four special friends I met when I went back to school. The 5 of us had every class together for the entire journey all the way to graduation. We became friends, support system, advice givers, and big time laughing buddies.

A Tribute To Our Victory

I know there was a reason

It was somehow meant to be

This journey made together

Contrived by destiny

 Separately deciding together

To follow the same road

First fate gave us timing

Our friendship next bestowed.

 A room filled with strangers

Almost magically we became

A group of souls united

All so different, yet the same

We each have been a sculptor

In this story to be told

Starting out as grains of sand

Now statues to behold

 A bond so very special

Together we reached our goal

A part of you I take with me

Separately in body, sisters in soul

A beautiful tribute to friendship. It is amazing, how it seems like people come into our lives, and we could not imagine our lives without them, or remember what life was life before them. I have thought about this a lot, I love music, and I have seen this in that realm as well. The story of the Beatles for example, how John Lennon plays a gig at a Church festival, and Paul McCartney just happens along to see him and becomes enamoured, both only 17 and 16 respectively. And the rest is history. And Bob Marley and the Wailers as well. Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer all brilliant in thier own right grew up within just a few streets of each other, and like the Beatles somehow magically found each other to blend thier styles and talents to create music/art/poetry which would go on to change the world. Could this be coincidence? Possibly, but I think there is something deeper. People come and people go in our lives for a pletheora of reasons. But some come in and stay, and it almost feels like destiny/fate that they were sent to us. Great write. Peace and Love, Spence

I agree...I hope these friends are gonna be "stayers"! And you are right, many amazing things have evolved from people coming together by what we call "chance"...I like to think many of these meetings were events occurring for a reason in a much bigger plan than we can imagine!

Thank you Marie.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
