BROKEN WING
if i tell you how i feel
you’ll use it against me someday
so i won’t state my case
i’ll be silent, it’s better that way
when i open up to you
you use it as mud to sling
I’m like the bird you watch try to fly
and instead of helping, breaking its wing
you condemn me for being human
for sinning just like you
you’re to busy critiquing me
to see the wrong that you do
you treat me like a child
your respect i have to earn
you just laugh when i’m hurting
and say it’s a lesson to learn
you think my discontent
is just me crying and whining
you think i need definition
but it’s really you that needs defining
someday i’ll fly leaving you behind
we’d be better off that way
even with a broken wing
i’d fly farther and less I’d pay
you’ll use it against me someday
so i won’t state my case
i’ll be silent, it’s better that way
when i open up to you
you use it as mud to sling
I’m like the bird you watch try to fly
and instead of helping, breaking its wing
you condemn me for being human
for sinning just like you
you’re to busy critiquing me
to see the wrong that you do
you treat me like a child
your respect i have to earn
you just laugh when i’m hurting
and say it’s a lesson to learn
you think my discontent
is just me crying and whining
you think i need definition
but it’s really you that needs defining
someday i’ll fly leaving you behind
we’d be better off that way
even with a broken wing
i’d fly farther and less I’d pay
