MUD ON MY SHOES
flowers bloom
and flowers die
just like us
with a tear-stained eye
sailboats sail
and seagulls soar
ships sink down
to the ocean floor
laughter comes
and sorrows go
the moon lights up
the sky’s flashy show
spring blows in
and breezes sigh
i’d feel your love
but i’d get to high
i walk the path
but i sing the blues
the ground is dry
but there’s mud on my shoes
i dance alone
but to hopes i cling
there are no birds
but i hear them sing
and flowers die
just like us
with a tear-stained eye
sailboats sail
and seagulls soar
ships sink down
to the ocean floor
laughter comes
and sorrows go
the moon lights up
the sky’s flashy show
spring blows in
and breezes sigh
i’d feel your love
but i’d get to high
i walk the path
but i sing the blues
the ground is dry
but there’s mud on my shoes
i dance alone
but to hopes i cling
there are no birds
but i hear them sing
