LIFE
life is a series of perpetual yearnings
always wanting more
not knowing who will next
walk through our front door
continuously seeking
love and peacefulness
living for something
more than a second-guess
opening locked windows
to let some air in
knowing the breeze will
blow in our next sin
searching for just a
hint of contentment
hoping for something
next to heaven sent
sweeping our fears
to hide under the rug
balancing on the edge
of the grave that we’ve dug
knowing it would take
just one banana peel
for immanent death
to become real
always wanting more
not knowing who will next
walk through our front door
continuously seeking
love and peacefulness
living for something
more than a second-guess
opening locked windows
to let some air in
knowing the breeze will
blow in our next sin
searching for just a
hint of contentment
hoping for something
next to heaven sent
sweeping our fears
to hide under the rug
balancing on the edge
of the grave that we’ve dug
knowing it would take
just one banana peel
for immanent death
to become real
