ICICLES
icicles so beautifully formed
one of natures near perfections
but just a slight change
turns them into melted confections
with the warmth of sunshine
they drip with tears of joy
or fear they may disappear
hoping the artic air will deploy
dropping off roofs suicidally
with a shattering end
becoming crystalline shards
not even nature can mend
becoming one with the earth
a puddle or shards of ice
just to melt away again
inability to survive its only vice
icicles are like happiness
one moment full of wonder
the next broken and suddenly gone
just another of life’s blunders
one of natures near perfections
but just a slight change
turns them into melted confections
with the warmth of sunshine
they drip with tears of joy
or fear they may disappear
hoping the artic air will deploy
dropping off roofs suicidally
with a shattering end
becoming crystalline shards
not even nature can mend
becoming one with the earth
a puddle or shards of ice
just to melt away again
inability to survive its only vice
icicles are like happiness
one moment full of wonder
the next broken and suddenly gone
just another of life’s blunders
