By His Side
He laid there serene, as if in a dream -Not even a breath dared disturb his reverie
And still as I drew ever near,
I found no words, no pain, and no fear
That's when I knew, as sure as I could know -
I had to let him go, so he could go find you.
Just then, as if he had heard my thought,
He let go, to seek what his heart long sought.
And in the silence, my smile embraced
The tears I could not yet face.
Although I knew that it wouldn't take long,
It is still a suprise to see him gone.
