Forever the Father
Forever the father of my fright
The cast of pain on this deadly night
To which you spoke those crimson words
Into the darkened shadows of this world
My heart was broken in that year
When your words were all that I could hear
I tried to remember, tried to hold on
To that place of happiness where I tried to belong
Forever the father of my pain
Unspoken wisdom, that you'll never gain
The night's I've cried for you to come
Were ignored by you and set in stone
You left me alone beside my bed
Where I was screaming and nearly dead
To sit and talk and drink with your friends
You heard the cries but never turned your heads
Forever the father of my death
Your name I spoke beneath my breath
When I was young and missed you so
But you were gone and you never knew
You see the face of a lonely child
Who saw the world but never smiled
Because her father left her alone
In a world she was forced to roam
