    FORGIVE ME

    MY CHILD...HOW UNFORTUNATE
    THAT WE SHOULD HAVE THIS IN COMMON

    EACH OF US...PLAYING A PART
    THAT BELONGS TO SOMEONE ELSE

    ME...THE FATHER
    YOU...THE MAN

    FORGIVE ME...MY CHILD
    FOR YOUR SHOULDERS ARE STILL SO SMALL
    AND THE BURDEN...ENORMOUS

    YOUR YOUTH DEPARTING...
    MUCH SOONER THAN IT SHOULD

    GUILTY...ARE MY YEARS
    FOR THEY TOO ARE YOUNG

    YOUR ANGER...TOO PASSIONATE
    FOR A CHILD OF ONLY FIVE

    MY FRUSTRATION...THOUGH JUSTIFIED
    IS SO TERRIBLY MISPLACED

    AND THE APOLOGIES...NOT ENOUGH
    FOR YOU CAN'T EVEN KNOW WHY I AM SORRY

    Nicely written. You make good points regarding the dilemma fathers face when raising children I feel his pain. It was similar feelings that prompted me to write A Rocks Magic, I'll Always Be There For You, and Time To Be A Man. Well done.

    Wow the frustrations of life can really leave you with words of apology for falling short on our missions of life...I felt these frustrations with my daughter - but I thank God for giving me the ability to still impact their life in the long run and giving me a relationship with them later on in life - proving the point better late than never... KD
