Tossing Bones
Tossing Bones
I am locked here in your arms
Wishing that you'd let me go
But you found what you were looking for in me
I am backwards with my love
And in going to and fro
You still won't get the hint to let me be
The more you tell me that you love me
The more I wish you lied
But the truth is all that's falling from your tongue
The more you reach out with your hands
The more I wish that they were tied
But Houdini couldn't do the things you've done
Why is your heart so fragile?
Why are your eyes so blind?
Why do you take the suffering so well?
Don't tell me you are hoping
You could put my past behind
My heart alone could freeze the burning souls in hell
Why don't you take my cold advice
And walk away while you're a man
And I won't strip you of your weakened sense of pride
I neither want to lay it down
Nor do I wish to make a stand
But I can't keep down the retching that I hide
I wish I could admit
All the lies that we're made of
But I'm a coward and I toss you only bone
I suppose I could come clean
And tell you that I cannot love
But I thought you'd figure that out on your own
I am locked here in your arms
Wishing that you'd let me go
But you found what you were looking for in me
I am backwards with my love
And in going to and fro
You still won't get the hint to let me be
The more you tell me that you love me
The more I wish you lied
But the truth is all that's falling from your tongue
The more you reach out with your hands
The more I wish that they were tied
But Houdini couldn't do the things you've done
Why is your heart so fragile?
Why are your eyes so blind?
Why do you take the suffering so well?
Don't tell me you are hoping
You could put my past behind
My heart alone could freeze the burning souls in hell
Why don't you take my cold advice
And walk away while you're a man
And I won't strip you of your weakened sense of pride
I neither want to lay it down
Nor do I wish to make a stand
But I can't keep down the retching that I hide
I wish I could admit
All the lies that we're made of
But I'm a coward and I toss you only bone
I suppose I could come clean
And tell you that I cannot love
But I thought you'd figure that out on your own
