    Poem Commentary

    I wrote this because some times people see only what they want to.I  get asked by people here on the island I live," You wrote that?"
    Just goes to show how little they know me.Which I guess could be sad for me.But I tell myself all the time.STEPPING STONES NOT STUMBLING BLOCKS.
    So  I will write on.

    Free Spirit

    Tell me not to take the time
    To explore myself within
    Then tell me ... that writing poetry
     Is nothing but a whim
    Use words like ... if it does not bring in money
    Why do you waste the time?
    But you will never understand
    The power of the rhyme
    Wish .... that I could open your world
    To the things I have in mine

    But then I come to realize
    You would not take the time
    If I will not conform to your ways
    You say that just not right
    While I defend what I do
    And slowly take to flight
    Yes ... I am a free spirit
    And with my pen I soar
    Which is why writing poems
    Only brings me back  ....... to more

    You tell 'em!! Love it! So inspiring!! Did they not tell Ben Franklin with his kite he was wasting his time until he discovered that lightning was electricity or---Newton before he developed his famous physics principles? "Taking flight" as you put it is how we develop & grow as individuals--and as a civilization. You go girl!! ;)

    A beautiful poem, written by a beautiful woman who can drink from my river any time she wants. I can only hope that she will allow me to drink from hers as well. allways stay free and let the ink flow. smiles Vincent
