Never Again

There once was a little child

And nothing ever seemed possible

She worked every way she could

And even to find that special dad

When everything was turned to that

She worshiped the few nice things in life

Her father, friends, and everything else around her

And everyday she wonders

What will happen next she says

Looking at the astonishment in her eyes

But her dad is beaming down on her

One chance at a time

One chance is not all you get

But more and more every time

But your my daughter

And nothing can take that away

She loved him so very much

But the glare in her eyes

Just disappeared

And after that everything faded

It was you that I loved

And everything in it was just a shame

But I love you

And nothing can change that

Everyday I wonder if were okay

Are we going to be able to live?

In such a world like this

Now that he's gone

As her daughter tries to comfort her

She just keeps saying

What are we going to do?

She says it will be okay

As days pass by

And their lives go on

Everyday she wonders

What life will be like now

They go to the funeral

And everything is a mess

They all cry

And then it's finally over

We all walk outside

And then get back in the car

We all go to the cemetery

And then we all leave

The time that we spent at the house

Was a time of joy

Happiness

And love

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
