New York

In New York there were two towers

Two towers that people died in

As I remember what happened

It went like this

She said she heard a siren

She thought it was just a drill

When she got back up

Two planes struck

I remember I heard this

And I begin to cry

Just to see and hear all the hatred

I didn’t realize the truth

People lost their families

And lost friends too

I think about this everyday

And when September 11th comes

It all goes my way

To see my uncle in Iraq

He takes care of those who care

He does this cause he wants to

But he will be home in a few months

September 11th was a time of tragedy

Not lost, but fired

It would not have happened

If it wasn’t because of Ben Lautin

To not go back

And not go forth

I know now

                           That could have been me

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
