A Better Place
I’m on my own
Standing all alone.
I’m sitting and thinking of you,
But somehow I knew
That you would not stay long;
But I must remain strong.
All the good times we had,
They weren’t all that bad.
We had so much fun;
The two of us couldn’t be undone.
Somewhere along the path we took
A wrong turn that shook
Our relationship to the ground,
But as I stare at this mound
I remember it all so well.
The times we had were swell;
All until that dreadful night
When you let out a yell of fright.
A car was on the wrong side,
But I could not hide.
The driver was drunk
And in the seat you sunk.
Why did it have to be you?
I was one of the few
That would have taken your spot.
The man who did this should be shot.
As I drop the flower on the mound,
There is not a sound.
I miss you so,
But in a way I know
That you’re in a better place.
I hope you save me a space;
I’ll be with you soon.
As I stare at the moon,
I feel the joy I once had
When you and I were glad.
We were together at last,
But how you went so fast.
Death I no longer fear,
For I loved you so dear.
Standing all alone.
I’m sitting and thinking of you,
But somehow I knew
That you would not stay long;
But I must remain strong.
All the good times we had,
They weren’t all that bad.
We had so much fun;
The two of us couldn’t be undone.
Somewhere along the path we took
A wrong turn that shook
Our relationship to the ground,
But as I stare at this mound
