Just a Dream
Down a path deep in the woods,
I finally come to the place of my dreams.
It looks as if it is watching me
much like I am watching it.
It is more inviting than I remember
and I can't wait to go in.
As I start toward the door
I smell fresh food on the stove.
The smell of a homemade roast
cooking its last minutes
before being served.
The smell sweeps me off my feet
and pulls me closer to the door.
As I float through the air
I realize something is wrong.
I know I cannot fly
but I look to see that I am not touching the ground.
Just as I reach for the door
I hear a cell phone ring.
I rise out of bed
to realize it was just a dream.
I finally come to the place of my dreams.
It looks as if it is watching me
much like I am watching it.
It is more inviting than I remember
and I can't wait to go in.
As I start toward the door
I smell fresh food on the stove.
The smell of a homemade roast
cooking its last minutes
before being served.
The smell sweeps me off my feet
and pulls me closer to the door.
As I float through the air
I realize something is wrong.
I know I cannot fly
but I look to see that I am not touching the ground.
Just as I reach for the door
I hear a cell phone ring.
I rise out of bed
to realize it was just a dream.
