  • is estatic that she finished The Reaper Man after not being able to find a way to finish it for months. ^^

Forced

I'm being pushed through time against my will
Pushed until I die.
I had no say if I wanted to live
So, tell me, what will have I?
I'm being forced to breathe this air
Or else I'm forced to die
There was no 'if you want live come forth
And say I'
It was more like 'Here's your round trip ticket
From here to life and back .
And I'll give you some advice, don't worry, you see,
This life won't last.
But now I have something
That was not forced on me,
Something good might come out of life,
I'm starting to believe
I have fallen in love
Given my entire heart to him
And yet, you see,
This life is still making my thoughts grim
I'm so afraid of losing
That single thing I chose
I do not wish to leave
Or life to come to a close
It seems as though we had no choice but to live
And we wonder why people can be so negative
Then the minute we have something
We think is worth living for
It seems that time just flies by again
And exits right out the door.

When I think of when I was 16-oh- it was so hopelessly filled with exciting chaos. You will change so much in thoughts, values, and love...be careful. Give all, but always be ready for it all to be gone, without a hint of why. The answers come much later. Never stop writing-it is your sanity in an insane world. Very good write-from one who has walked those shoes.

Thank you very much for the advice. i'm also glad that you liked the poem. =) I find it interesting that the word love can cause more pain than war sometimes, can cripple people, and even take their souls from them... it's rather sad. I'm sorry you have been in those shoes, as i am sorry that all of us could very well have a chance in those shoes. thank you again.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
