This one is autobiographical. Yep, that was me.

                                   May your Circle remain unbroken

First friend then love then wedding verse.

Only death could part us. For better or worse.

A lifetime together is what we had planned,

The milestones of life we would face hand in hand.

Joined at first by the power of her lust

I hoped it would grow into love and to trust

Two separate souls, could they come together

                                    Bound heart-to-heart, together forever?

Life tested that love in fierce stormy weather

Each trial we faced should’ve pulled us together

Our love was saved when our first child came

I prayed his arrival would light a new flame.

Pained memories grew and as the years past

A question arose, How long can this last?

And alas dear reader, something altered our paths

That once whole person became just two halves

And I must move forward. Life doesn’t wait

I’m seeking now a more worthy mate.

But know what I’m after right from the start

First friend then lover then a place in your heart

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
