    If I Had Known

    If I had known your love would bring

    My urge to sing to thee

    Then it would be an important thing

    To practice do re me.

     

    If I had known your love would cause

    My urge to buy you things

    Then I’d be shopping without pause

    For chocolates and flowers and rings.

     

    If I had known your love would make

    Me worship at your feet

    I’d be sincere and never fake

    And bow each time we meet.

     

    If I had known your love would start

    A ringing in my ear

    And palpitations in my heart

    Each time you get real near.

     

    If I had known your love so hot

    Would set my heart aflame

    But the burning heart would instant stop

    If you didn’t feel the same.
