    Haiku poem. I am reading a book on how to write poetry. This author says to use nouns and verbs, and forget adjectives. Then I read Longfellow. I guess he did not get her message.

    Yes, and thank you! I let my words fly free a bit too often (not in anger, just saying what's on my mind without consideration to where I am). Once while in the Ukraine a sales clerk asked me why I was not purchasing the CCCP jersey I was contemplating. I started to say, "Are you kidding? I'm not communist. I'm an American". THANK GOD my words got hung up somewhere between my brain and my mouth. It was a rare moment.)

    You are too kind. I guess one advantage to the haiku poem is that a person can read a few of them, and not get too bored. (It is my achilles heel to always be observing)

    Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
