Goodbye Baby

Poem Commentary

A letter to my son at a low point.

Goodbye Baby

Baby your the best
you can do anything you set your mind to
but please understand
my mind is damaged and
my optimism is old fashioned.
My old ways are shunned and,
my get up and go just up and went,
and to make things worse
I have made some enemies
along the way.

You will be okay,
God said so,
I have faith your dreams
will come true.  I really do.
Mine however are old fashioned
and tarnished by the new fashioned.

My way is tradional
I was made for a world
with a heart, and with empathy.
I was raised to protect those i am responsible for.
I just wanted to be good,
to be the one that made a bad
situation good, but there are times
I can't, do it without being rude due to
damn political correctness!

Please understand that i know
that I have done alot of good.
 But I am out matched
and I no longer have the will or the power.
I gave it all to you.
Do the right thing always
and I will be there with you,
and you will have an army of my
best friends at your side.

Know that i prayed for you
and I couldnt have been blessed
with a more wonderful child.
Give 'em hell son.

But baby I am tired now
and I just don't know
what i am supposed to do next.
Protect the girls,
 remember its God first,
then family even if family sucks.
Remember i loved you
more than life itself.

God gave me you
and i couldnt have been more blessed
you gave me Joy!
For the first time in my life
I felt needed and complete.
You were a joy to teach and love
a blessing from up above.

Wrong and right you know the score
thats all you needed nothing more.
Be good, be natural, be a good man.
Dont give up on your trumpet
although i always thought you were better
on the trumbone.

Never give the land up
think of me at dinner
remember the dogs are loyal
Country music does rock
Rock music does too.

Dont abuse maryjane
dont let them drive you insane.
I will wait for you at the gate.
You were my Hercules there; and
they dont know what they do, and
then like now it is still so true today.

Namaste'
