    Poem Commentary

I wrote this for my dad's birthday card when I was about 14

    Happy Birthday Dad

    Happy birthday you old man
    From your own #1 fan

    So now you’re turning 53
You look so much older to me

    I’m sorry I couldn’t give you more
Store bought presents, what a bore

Anyways, I hope you have a good time
Because I’m ending this short little rhyme

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
