Lost Horizon
Many a day have I spent sitting still
Upon a park bench
Looking up at this hill
Where an army of truck drivers
Built a landfill
On top of an island we played upon
Till
A political office decided to kill
Something perfect
And purely environmental
I sit here and wonder
If someday I'll be
Like the island this new generation can't see
Buried under a graveyard of bureaucracy
Because too much garbage was dumped upon me
By a government staging a black comedy
No longer inspired to write poetry
