    Poem Commentary

This poem is meant to sound childlike in the first half and then sound more matured in the second half to represent the passing of time and how your best friend will always be there through it all.

To the one who never asks for anything in return but a kiss. To the one who has been with me in my darkest hour and seen me through it. To often people think of their pets as nothing more than that, just pets. But if you give them a chance, they will love you more than anyone else in this world.

    My Best Friend

    Fuzzy fuzzy, yes you are.
    You're the cutest, by far.
You're the sweetest, yes it's true.
I love you, oh yes I do.

    You've got strips,
    But you've got no wings.
    You've got whiskers,
    That's plain to see.

    You've got four legs,
    And no webbed feet.
    You've got a tail,
But no fins that I see.

    Two ears, Two eyes.
    One nose, One mouth.
    Nothing out of order.
    Nothing upside down.

    Lovable and cuddly,
    Are good traits.
    You've got both of those.
    You've got both in spades.

    So what are you,
    You ball of fluff?
    What is it,
    That I love so much?

Who is it that is my friend?
Who is it that is my pal?
    Who is always here?
    Who is always around?

Who, when I need to talk,
    Lends me his ear?
Who, when I need to cry,
    Lets me hold him near?

    And when I am sick,
    Who stays by my side?
    When I feel hurt,
    Who lets me cry?

When I'm in a bad mood,
Who lets me scream out my rage?
And when I turn my anger in on myself,
Who stays and is not afraid?

    Why, it's Gabrielle,
    My precious kitty.
    And he's always there.
    When I have need.

very sweet and well put tribute to your best friend. Some days our pets are all we have. They are not judgmental. You are loved flaws and all. Well done.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
