Search You Soul
When things don't go according to plan,
Is there anything you can do,
Or are you simply damned?
When your hands are bound,
When your mouth is gaged,
What would you do,
To be free at last?
Would you be able to do the immoral?
Could you forget your ethics and live in turmoil?
Could you turn our back on the difference between right and wrong?
Would you let that line blur and maybe cause others harm?
How far would you go?
Is there anything you wouldn't do?
Could you look into yourself,
Then tell the world “fuck you”?
Could you turn your back on those you use to love?
Could you stop offering help to those you don't know?
Could you stop listening to your friends in need?
Could you say “buzz off, I'm not listening”?
Where would you draw the line,
On this road of cold, halfheartedness?
Is there a point when you would say,
“This is no longer worth it”?
And how would you know when to draw that line?
When would you realize you had crossed it?
And when you discovered that you had,
Would you care or just say “screw it”?
Can you handle being asked these questions?
Can you ask them of yourself?
Are you strong enough to give a honest answer?
Are you courageous enough to tell?
Or do you hide from the truth?
Do you cower in the dark?
Do you retreat from the mirrors that are eyes?
Do you fear the reflection of your darkened heart?
Only you can answer this.
The only price that will be paid is yours.
Are you willing to pay the piper,
To learn more about yourself?
So I was wondering if you could do a simple thing.
Can you look inside yourself and riddle me this,
Could you stop caring about everyone around you...
And still have the will to live?
