Angel In The Dark
‘TWAS COLD AND RAINY AND VERY DARK,
A VERY DISMAL NIGHT.
THE ROAD WAS LONG AND LONELY
AND VOID OF ANY LIGHT.
A CAR WAS PARKED OFF TO THE SIDE
WITH TAIL LIGHTS GLOWING BRIGHT.
WE TRAVELLED PAST, A LITTLE WAY
WHEN SOMETHING CAUGHT MY SIGHT.
“STOP”, I SHOUTED, “WE MUST GO BACK!”
I SENSED A SPECIAL NEED.
HE STOPPED THE VAN AND BACKED IT UP.
I’M SO GLAD HE AGREED,
FOR STANDING THERE BESIDE THE CAR
WAS AN ANGEL IN DISGUISE,
WITH WET HAIR CLINGING TO HER FACE,
AND SADNESS IN HER EYES.
A SCARED CHILD, WET AND CONFUSED
AND HURTING DEEP INSIDE.
I HEARD A VOICE WITHIN MY HEAD,
AND A TUGGING AT MY SIDE.
IT SEEMED TO BE A SILENT VOICE
TELLING ME WHAT TO DO.
“YOU NEED TO HUG HER AND HOLD HER TIGHT
AND DRAW HER CLOSE TO YOU.”
SO I OBEYED AND TOOK THE CHILD
AND HELD HER IN MY ARMS
AND LET HER SOB AND POUR OUT HER HEART
‘TIL AT LAST SHE BECAME CALM.
I FELT GOD’S LOVE FLOW THROUGH ME
AS I COMFORTED THIS GIRL.
I FELT HER LOVE RETURN TO ME
AND SET MY HEART AWHIRL.
GOD PLACED A SPECIAL BOND BETWEEN
THIS LITTLE CHILD AND ME.
MY LITTLE ANGEL IN THE DARK
THAT JESUS SENT TO ME.
“THANK YOU LORD, I FEEL SO BLESSED
THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN ME
TO TOUCH THE HEART OF AN ANGEL.”
( THAT’S WHAT SARAH IS TO ME! )
