Dad
He stood so tall, like a giant tree
His head reached toward the sky.
My head barely reached his knees,
Yet I had no fear inside.
I felt content in his massive arms
As he lifted me up high.
Then I kept growing taller
As the years were passing by.
He now would teach me how to ride
The bike he bought for me.
He’d take me out to ball games,
And swimming in the sea.
Next I knew, I was tall (like him)
We were standing eye to eye.
He attended all my high school sports.
So much time had passed by.
He helped me through my childhood
Until I was fully grown.
And now I am a dad myself
with children of my own.
As I look back in memory
At the wonderful life I had,
I say a special prayer to God
To thank him for my dad.
