Winter
OLD MAN WINTER IS DRAWING NEAR.
HIS CHILL IS IN THE AIR.
ANIMALS HAVE RUN FOR SHELTER,
AND THE TREE LIMBS NOW ARE BARE.
THE SUMMER FLOWERS MUST BOW THEIR HEADS,
AND BID US FOND ADIEU.
THE BRIGHT GREEN GRASS HAS TURNED TO GRAY,
IT’S HEARD ABOUT HIM TOO!
THE ROBINS AND THE BLUEBIRDS
HAVE GATHERED UP THEIR YOUNG,
TO HURRY THEM DOWN SOUTH,
THEIR FINAL SONG THEY’VE SUNG.
THE BUNNIES AND THE CHIPMUNKS
ARE A VERY RARE SIGHT,
THEY MUST PROTECT THEIR BABIES
FROM THE CHILLY WINTER NIGHTS.
WE, TOO, MUST PREPARE OURSELVES
FOR ICICLES AND SNOW,
AND HIBERNATE LIKE LITTLE BEARS,
IN WARMTH BY CANDLE GLOW.
OUR FIREPLACES MUST BE CLEANED,
AND WOOD MUST BE PILED HIGH,
TO KEEP OUR CHILDREN NICE AND WARM,
‘TIL WINTER HAS GONE BY.
SO TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES BY THE HAND,
PROTECT THEM NIGHT AND NOON,
AND KEEP THIS SPECIAL THOUGHT IN MIND..
(THAT SPRING WILL BE HERE SOON.)
HIS CHILL IS IN THE AIR.
ANIMALS HAVE RUN FOR SHELTER,
AND THE TREE LIMBS NOW ARE BARE.
THE SUMMER FLOWERS MUST BOW THEIR HEADS,
AND BID US FOND ADIEU.
THE BRIGHT GREEN GRASS HAS TURNED TO GRAY,
IT’S HEARD ABOUT HIM TOO!
