Walk to Emmaus
Emmaus was so far away
And the road was long and narrow.
The pilgrims walked along the path.
Their hearts were filled with sorrow.
A stranger soon approached them
And asked why they were sad.
They spoke of the crucifixion
And the terrible day they had.
They told Him that their Lord was dead,
And that is why they grieved.
The stranger said “He is alive!”
“Why don’t you believe?”
“He is risen from the grave
No longer is He dead.”
“Why didn’t you listen to
The things that Jesus said?”
“He told you he was coming back,
And that you mustn’t grieve.
He wants you to go spread the word
So the whole world will believe.”
Then the stranger disappeared
From the pilgrims sight,
But left behind the knowledge
That the stranger had been right.
Jesus had risen from the grave.
He paid deeply for our sin.
That’s why we must open our hearts
And let the Savior in.
He’ll bless us with amazing grace,
So we must do our part
To spread the word “He is alive,
And touches every heart.”
So, like the pilgrims on the road,
Believe what Jesus said
And tell the world He died for us,
And is risen from the dead.

And is risen from the dead.
