Everlasting Beacon
AS YOU STRUGGLE WITH THE DARKNESS OF PAIN,
AND YOUR SUFFERING SEEMS SO IMMENSE,
AND YOU FEEL THE WALLS ARE CAVING IN
AND YOUR TEETERING ON THE FENCE--
WHEN YOU THINK THAT NOTHING MATTERS,
LIFE’S NOT WORTH LIVING ANYMORE,
AND IT’S TIME TO CLOSE YOUR EYES AND SLEEP,
BUT--THERE’S A KNOCKING AT THE DOOR.
YOU HESITATE TO ANSWER IT
FOR FEAR IT BRINGS MORE PAIN.
BUT SOMETHING DEEP INSIDE YOUR HEART
SENSES SOMETHING YOU CAN GAIN.
AND SUDDENLY A GLEAM OF LIGHT
FILTERS THROUGH THE DOOR.
YOU OPEN IT AND THEN YOU FIND
THE JOYS THAT LIE IN STORE.
THE STRUGGLES YOU HAVE HARBORED
SEEM EASIER TO BEAR,
BECAUSE YOU OPENED UP YOUR HEART
AND FOUND JESUS STANDING THERE.
YOU LET HIM IN, AND WHAT A JOY.....
HE TOOK AWAY YOUR STRIFE,
AND GAVE YOU PEACE AND LOVE AND FAITH
WHEN YOU LET HIM IN YOUR LIFE.
HE’S ALWAYS THERE JUST WAITING
FOR YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR.
HE WILL COME IN TO LIGHTEN YOUR HEART
AND STAY FOREVER MORE.
WHEN YOUR HEART IS COLD AND BURDENED
AND YOU’RE LONGING TO BE WARM,
KEEP HIS LIGHT ALWAYS SHINING
AS A BEACON IN THE STORM.
AND YOUR SUFFERING SEEMS SO IMMENSE,
AND YOU FEEL THE WALLS ARE CAVING IN
AND YOUR TEETERING ON THE FENCE--
WHEN YOU THINK THAT NOTHING MATTERS,
LIFE’S NOT WORTH LIVING ANYMORE,
AND IT’S TIME TO CLOSE YOUR EYES AND SLEEP,
