Sharing Christmas
A LITTLE CHILD STANDS HELPLESS,
NO SHOES UPON HIS FEET.
WISHING HE COULD BUY SOME FOOD,
HE’S BEGGING IN THE STREET.
HIS BODY TREMBLES FROM THE COLD,
HE HAS NO GLOVES OR HAT.
HIS COAT IS TORN AND MUCH TOO SMALL,
BUT HE DOESN’T THINK OF THAT.
HIS THOUGHTS ARE OF HIS SISTER
WHO IS HUNGRY, COLD AND SICK.
HE NEEDS TO GET SOME FOOD FOR HER,
AND HE NEEDS TO GET IT QUICK.
BOTH HIS PARENTS LOST THEIR JOBS,
AND COULDN’T PAY THEIR DEBTS.
THE BANK FORCLOSED THEIR MORTGAGE,
AND DID SO WITHOUT REGRETS.
THEY ROAMED THE STREETS WITH THEIR CHILDREN,
NIGHTS,. SLEEPING IN A VAN.
BEGGING FOOD FROM STRANGERS.
DOING THE BEST THEY CAN,
THEN ONE MORNING THEY LEFT
TO GO BEG FOR A SNACK.
NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN,
THEY NEVER DID COME BACK.
SO NOW THE CHILDREN ARE ALONE,
THIS YOUNG GIRL AND HER BROTHER,
NEVER AGAIN SHALL THEY SEE
THEIR FATHER OR THEIR MOTHER.
IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME AND HERE WE ARE,
RUSHING HERE AND THERE.
BUYING THINGS THAT FOLKS DON’T NEED,
THEN WRAPPING THEM WITH CARE.
SOME ITEMS MAY NEVER BE USED,
THEY’LL JUST BE PUT AWAY, ..
TUCKING THEM INSIDE A DRAWER
AND THAT IS WHERE THEYLL STAY.
THIS YEAR, INSTEAD OF WASTING TIME
FIGHTING CROWDS, AND SUCH,
WHY NOT MAKE A DONATION
TO THOSE WHO NEED SO MUCH?
AS WE CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF CHRIST,
LET’S DO WHAT HE WOULD DO.
LET’S HELP THE HOMELESS, POOR AND SICK
TODAY AND ALL YEAR THROUGH.
GOD SENT HIS SON TO DIE FOR US,
NOW IT’S OUR TURN TO REPAY.
TAKE THE TIME THAT’S NEEDED
TO HELP SOMEONE TODAY!
