Prayer for a Prisoner
Oh Lord, I need to come to you
Down on my knees to pray.
To tell you what is on my mind
And what happened to me today.
I went to Concord State Prison
With a group of Kairos folk.
And spent the morning listening
To this inmate’s tale of woe.
The prisoners that were present
Have been saved by your grace,
But I can still remember
The pain on one man’s face.
This one man in particular
Was looking, oh, so sad
His family never visits him,
And he’s hurting real bad!
He knows how much you love him
And you’re always standing near,
But his pain’s so very deep Lord,
That he isn’t thinking clear.
I ask you, Lord, to send to him
The comfort that he seeks.
Wrap your arms around him,
Listen when he speaks.
Lift him up and hold him tight,
Let him feel your touch.
If you would do this thing for me,
It would really mean so much.
You are the Mighty Comforter,
The Savior ever true.
Please bring peace to this man’s heart,
That’s what I ask of you.
Thank you, Lord, for listening
To this prayer that I speak,
And thank you for placing me
In the prison this week.
Hear my prayer for this man
Let him feel your love,
And shower him with blessings
From your heavenly home above.
