    Poem Commentary

After washing up in the shower this morning I was standing with my eye's closed and my back to the showerhead while enjoying the hot water spray on my back, imagining being at the beach with the hot sun energizing me. That's when and how this poem came about. You know it's hard to write a poem in a hot steamy shower! So I committed all I could to memory and finished it up after drying off. Any suggestions on how I could write in the shower if the muse strikes again there? I'm open for suggestions. Blessings, W.

Join with me now, on a trip if you’d like,

To leave behind stress, that cause our life strife,

There’s no ticket to purchase, or plane to be met,

No house to be locked up, or boarding of pets,

No baggage to shuttle, or clothes to be packed,

No tours to keep up with, or itineraries to track,

Just the soothing of nerves, and the resting of mind,

As we take a deep breath, close our eyes and recline.

Imagine a time, as you lie on the beach,

The warm sand beneath, and the sun’s bathing heat,

The smell of salt air, as the breezes float by,

And cool your warm skin, as seagulls above cry.

The crashing of waves, as they lap at the shore,

The giggles of children, picking shells by the score,

The rustle of sea grass, just behind on the dunes,

As the reeds in the wind, play melodious tunes.

Just lie there and take in, these subtle sensations,

No pressure abounding, don’t need reservations,

Just return to this vision, and relive your elation,

Anytime to revisit, your private Imagi’Nation.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
