    Poem Commentary

    Written before the Feb. 1978 Leon Spinks fight where Mohammad Ali lost his title, and 7 mths later regained in a rematch. For those that remember Ali, he was always reciting his short stinging poetry leading up to a match… such as his “Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” Verse. It was in this mindset that I wrote what I thought he should say for this next fight, unfortunately he lost, and I never felt inspired to write for him again. Funny but this introductory commentary is longer then the poem itself!

    I got a rhyme at this time

    That won’t cost you no dime;

     

    It deals with your diet, you dude

    What you’ll eat for your food;

     

    Sugar is sweet

    But no good for your teeth,

    But you don’t got to worry

    They’ll be gone in a hurry,

    Cause the next time we meet…

    It’s your teeth that you’ll eat!
