Purple Fingers
As purple fingers ink across the
darkened sky, the world alights
with electric energy.
The distant flashes forewarn of
a coming storm.
Seen for miles around,
the storm clouds gain strength
as lightening shoots
through the ever rising
columns of air. Now, as a fierce
thunderstorm,
it sends people running for cover
as the sky opens and pours its rain
over the countryside.
Tomorrow, tonight will be a distant
memory, but for now, there are
purple fingers dancing
in the sky.
