    A Promise

Why do you make promises to the kids you know you will never keep
Why don't you open your eyes and take a little peek
What are you afraid to see the disappointment in their eyes?
Or maybe to hear them say that they are tired of the lies
We want you to try with us just a little bit harder
If your not let us know so we won't even bother
Our lives will go on with or without you
You are the only one that can choose
So, tell us what you are going to do
It's not up to us we don't have much to lose

We don't mean to make promises. We just want to make our children happy. We need to remember what we chose to say to our children to make them happy is what we can actually make a reality.

yeah, we all want to make our kids happy no doubt about that i would do anything. it just hurts sometimes because they remember what u say to them. i wrote this a long time ago...

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
