Homeless
I see you on the street and walk right by
Knowing that you need food and shelter, I can see the look in your eyes
I am going to my home a nice warm place
You live in a cardboard box with dirt all over your face
You have a can so people can donate some money
But everyone just walks by and looks at you funny
I know what they are thinking they don't have to say
Why should I have to give up my weeks pay
Everyone needs a helping hand
Everyone deserves to have a friend
That is why I turned around
I don't think anyone deserves to frown
I didn't get your name and you didn't get mine
You just know me as the girl who took the time
To talk to you and showed you that some people do care
You might see those people often but I know they are out there
I gave you some food and reached for my purse
I know that some people need those things worse
I have a job and a good home
I do not live on the street all alone
So, take your time and enjoy the food
I hope there is enough there for you
I want to thank you for opening my eyes
And allowing me the chance to see the real person inside
