GOING OUT TO SEA
As I Stand on the catwalk, I can’t hear a sound
But the engines roar from Norfolk we’re outbound
The warm smooth air brushes across my face
I take it all in this unique feeling I try to embrace
The seas are calm slick and as straight as glass
The moonlight bounces off the water as we pass
Soft cirrus clouds stroke the edge of the moon
Not long from now the stars will be gone soon
Seven knots is all we can seem to make
A long time to get there is what it will surely take
Combing my hair is the soft angelic breeze
No fight tonight just lazy comfortable seas
Looking back at land I feel so at peace
To get away from all of that is such a great relief
Just the great big blue our tugboat and me
On the horizon is black as far as I can see
No phones ringing or aggravations of normal life
Just feelings of serenity cutting through me like a knife
As I look up at the sky light flickers off a cloud
It doesn’t say a word but speaks out so very loud
The air is so warm like I’m nestled safely in my bed
Any feeling of negativity seems to die and become dead
If you could only embrace to you I’d give one night
That’s all it would take for you to see high and sight
If I could show you one thing and give it to you for free
It would be a trip on a tugboat going out to sea
