NIGHT IN NEW YORK
Fetched up on anchor, hanging by a line,
Five barges wide, but only one is mine,
The sky is clear, and the sea is very still,
Inner peace and serenity, is all I can feel,
Towers stretch, across the tall horizon,
Lights are flickering, as the humidity is rising,
Lady liberty, elongates towards the blue,
As tugs and ferries, quickly pass through,
She holds the torch, that marks this city,
Freedom and opportunity, oh she’s so pretty,
It’s very quiet, I hear nothing but humming,
For long, the early morning will be coming,
To bright to see stars, but I just don’t care,
So hot and sticky, no wind or breath of air,
Night begins to turn red, dawn is to begin,
Darkness no more, for silence will end,
The harbor will fill, of traffic galore,
My perfect stillness, will be no more,
Radios will gawk, as voices violently scream,
The sun will blaze, its scorching beam,
It’s back to the normal, oh what a pity,
It’s just another night, in New York City.
