LIVING TODAY
Balancing on fences, is usually where I walk,
Speaking in riddles, is normally how I talk,
My memories seem to fade, and never return,
Following straight paths, I always seem to turn,
Leaving my own shadow, I’m in another realm,
The engines are running, but silent is the helm,
Hardened hearts, are unchained from the wall,
Endless imperfections, cursed with every flaw,
Striving upon perfection, such a tedious task,
Drowning myself, in an old empty flask,
Ghosts of the past, blind me from inside,
Fear overcomes, and emotions run and hide,
Cupid then strikes, an unexpected blow,
Feelings erupt, as insecurities begin to flow,
For reasons unknown, my eyes become blind,
Twisted in confusion, I’m awakened to find,
A hurricane of pain, with an unjust cause,
Moments of silence, and a need for a pause,
Stricken by the past, and staring too far ahead,
Forgetting the present, I once heard said,
Oblivious to now, not living for today,
Hinders your life, in every single way,
My true happiness, portrays itself within,
Thank you my love, now I can finally begin.
