A ONE WAY STAND
Why in the world, is there no one left to be dependable
A true friend I am, but to everyone else so expendable
A man of my word, I do whatever I say I’m going to do
Everything is fine, until it’s time for it to be done for you
What does it take, to find someone that you can count on
I’m surrounded by procrastination, all reliability is gone
I give, I give, and I give, and people are so readily to take
But don’t think for one second, they’ll do it for your sake
So many friends are only friends when they need a hand
I’m so sick and tired of being, the foolish one way stand
I define a true friend, by their reliability and their trust
Both of these important traits, definitely being a must
I feel like I’m being used, and weighs heavily on my mind
A needle in a haystack, today a true friend is so hard to find
I try not to ask for help, but sometimes it’s just inevitable
The rarity I do ask for it, they are all busy or unreachable
I know the best way to get something done is on your own
But that’s very hard when I’m always gone and never home
I suppose you’re lucky, if you can hold onto one true friend
Someone who does what they say, and there till no end
It saddens my heart that this world has become so mean
Drowning in selfishness, arrogance, and the pursuit of green
Whatever happened to self respect, loyalty, happiness, and trust
We have lost our way and these are memories blowing in the dust
If you have a true friend, call them and just say thank you
Let them know you appreciate all the things that they do
Friendships are relationships and are not one way streets
So don’t be selfish, unreliable, and fill them with deceit
Hold your friends close and lend the occasional helping hand
Don’t let yourself become the kickstand to a one way stand
