In a courtyard of ages
In the garden of my life,
Where the laburnum blossoms fall,
Where the gold of the spring sun glows,
Where jasmine perfume wanders in nature’s hall,
There you shall find us, my love and I,
Entwined betwixt the towering oak,
And the delicate Babylonian tower,
Muttering in strange tongues, of strange lands.
We met as oft in legend, the hero and heroine do,
In a time, in a place, where true love has no court,
Where we were to be condemned and denied,
Where truth was the justice of future days.
It was an age past hence,
When at last we were free to be,
Together in joyous self fulfillment,
And blessed unity.
